Planimetric map

A Planimetric map is probably the most common form of a map for most people as it shows the lines of the map from a flat position without regard to elevations.  A road map is an example of a Planimetric map.  This map above is from the U.S. army in 1963-1965 showing the layout of a portion Vietnam at 1: 50,000 scale
