Hypsometric maps

Hypsometric refers to the colorings of these topographic maps.  The changes in elevation which these maps measure are represented by the different colors ranging from realistic as above in this map to just colorful to show a more extreme change.  This map shows beautifully the depth change from the deep ocean to the high mountains.
